Support the Minnesota Speaking DeafBlind

Help us bridge the gap for Minnesotans with combined hearing and vision loss.

Not everyone qualifies for state grant programs, leaving vulnerable individuals without the resources they need. We are raising funds to create a financial buffer, ensuring everyone receives vital support regardless of grant eligibility.

A driver stands at the front of a flatbed wagon, holding the reins of two large horses pulling a hayride. Seated along the edges of the wagon, from left to right, are Kelly H., Suzanne P., Clarence F., Tammy F., Adrienne H., Chuck B., Anne B., and Deb B. Paul D. sits directly behind the driver. In the center of the wagon, four guide dogs lie down near a pile of hay.

Breaking Isolation for Speaking DeafBlind Minnesotans

Living with dual sensory loss or overlapping vision and hearing challenges creates unique barriers to communication, especially outside the Twin Cities metro area. MSDBG is a grassroots community dedicated to individuals who navigate the world with multi-sensory impairments and communicate primarily using spoken language rather than Sign Language. Our group is fully inclusive and welcoming to anyone facing combined vision, hearing, or related sensory challenges.

Who We Serve

  • Speaking DeafBlind individuals (both hearing and vision loss).
  • Individuals with progressive sensory decline or multi-sensory impairments.
  • Anyone with complex disabilities who relies on spoken language, assistive technology, and specialized physical guiding.

Our Core Programs

  • Monthly teleconferences for resource sharing and peer support.
  • Structured bi-annual accessible retreats in St. Cloud.
  • Group outings and get-togethers.

How Your Contribution Helps

Every dollar raised or sponsored directly supports the logistical and accessibility needs of our members. Your contributions offset these critical costs:

Specialized Support Services

Funding Support Service Providers (SSPs) and professional communication guides ($25–$45/hour).

Accessible Transportation

Subsidizing regional ADA paratransit, Metro Mobility, and volunteer mileage for members traveling from rural Minnesota.

Inclusive Lodging & Meals

Ensuring safe, accessible accommodations during our multi-day community retreats.

Ways to Partner & Donate

We currently operate as a grassroots group. To scale our outreach, we are actively seeking the following collaborations:

Fiscal Sponsorship

We need an established 501(c)(3) organization to serve as our administrative umbrella so we can accept tax-deductible gifts.

Financial Seed Support

Direct corporate or foundation sponsorship to help cover non-grant-funded event expenses.

Strategic Advisory

Mentorship and guidance on non-profit governance and state grant navigation.

Let’s Build Something Meaningful Together

Whether you are a non-profit leader interested in a partnership, a community foundation, or a potential financial sponsor, we welcome your advice.
